Unbloggability

My apologies this week, but I have nothing exciting, or even pet-related, to blog about--mostly because I got myself in a fix because of remembering a deadline date wrong. In my defense, I’m juggling a lot of writing things at once, but it’s not really a good excuse.

I admit that I’m the kind of person who’s compulsively early, or at least on time. Knowing I’m going to be a little late is driving me nuts, even though I’ve been given a short extension.

What about you--do you try to get things done on time? Do you beat yourself up when you’re even a little late? I do!

I'm compulsively early for things. My husband knows to be ready at least 15 minutes before our agreed upon time.

And I think your writing schedule IS a good excuse ... just remember it will be worth the wait for the recipient!

I've always been the one to arrive for an event a half-hour early (just in case I got lost on the way), when nobody's there but the catering staff. Good reason to carry a book at all times.

I used to work in municipal finance, when missing a deadline meant BIG money to someone. I'm talking lots of zeroes.

I seem to have an internal sense of time, which lets me know when to start panicking. So far it's worked, from college onward. I haven't missed anything significant--yet.

I started trying to de-stress myself over schedules, because I'm so Type-A. Now I'm worried that I'm falling behind because I'm not stressed!

These replies are so interesting, because I'm a compulsive early-arriver, too! It has saved my bacon on occasions when I do get lost on my way to somewhere -- because then I arrive on time! I *hate* to be late. The bad part of this trait is that I'm annoyed by other people who are late to my parties or meetings.

Very interesting, everyone. I'm sure not all writers are compulsively early or on time, but the folks around here seem to be! And, Kathryn, stress is stress, so I'm not sure I'll try your way...

Hi Linda,
I'm always early too, and so I don't go anywhere without a book. As for writing deadlines, you have a lot to juggle. Go easy on yourself.

I am another early person. I carry a book or crochet stuff or I just people watch.
