It’s the day before Christmas and I have to wonder if anybody is sitting in front of their computer reading blogs. Probably not. More likely in line at Walgreens with an arm load of snuggies.
After six days straight of rain and a leaky roof, finally we had some sun. The good thing about all that rain (along with helping watering all the plants and making a chink in the drought) was how grateful I felt when it stopped. Just seeing some blue sky made me smile and feel happy. As much of a nuisance the leaks were, they were minor compared to having mud slide into your house or to get flooded.
And now that we’re past the shortest day of the year, the days will start getting longer again.
Over the years we’ve had parties for Christmas or gone to parties. This year I’m happy with quiet. I like my blog sister Terri’s idea of counting your blessings. And that is exactly what I’m going to do.

I agree with you agreeing with Terri that a grand part of the season is "things quieting down" as we enjoy being with family. I'm going to dinner and a gift exchange with some in-laws this evening, then going to a Christmas Eve service at my church. I love the quiet spaces between the action. Time to look both back and forward as the year draws toward its close.

Ah, maybe not in line at Walgreens, but we could be shopping at Walgreens.com! Much easier to find a parking space and no lines! (OK, so maybe you can't get delivery that fast unless you personally know Santa, but real procrastinators e-mail gift cards.)
