Malice to Mother's Day

I had a great time at Malice in Washington DC. The photo is of me, Julie Hyzy and Laura Alden as we were smoozing while waiting to go into the banquet. Thanks to Krista Davis for the photo. I'm afraid I was too busy talking to think about taking pictures.

The trip home had a little extra adventure. I was supposed to leave from Reagan, fly to Dallas and after a stopover, get a flight to L.A.. Before I even left for the airport, I was told the Dallas flight was delayed for 2 hours and I would miss my connection, so I had been rerouted through Nashville on an American Eagle plane. I got to Reagan, checked my bag, and went to the gate. The Nashville plane was delayed because of weather. I began to get a little nervous about the prospect of flying a small plane though lots of turbulence, and I also figured I'd never make my connection and would end up stuck in Nashville. Lord knows what would happen to my bag.

There were eight of us who were bound for L.A. hanging around the gate while the flight people discussed what to do with us. I have no idea who made the decision, but all of a sudden the Nashville flight was no longer an option and I was told I'd have to pick up my suitcase and go to Dulles airport for a flight from there. The good thing was that it was a non stop.

I was given a cab voucher. By then it had started to rain, but since it was Sunday, the traffic was light and I got to Dulles pretty quickly. Dulles looks like a space station, what with all the emptiness and the train to the gates. If there was a human driving it, they was well hidden. Did I mention that I had to do the whole security thing at both airports. I have it pretty well down, so it wasn't much of a problem.

My new plane left on time and I was finally able to sit back and relax. It was nice not having to worry about a connection, particularly since the weather was so bad. I ended up getting to L.A. forty-five minutes before I would have gotten there if I'd taken the flight through Dallas. And no problem with my bag. So, it all had a happy ending.

This Sunday is Mother's Day. Personally, I would rather do something than get a present, so my son is taking me to Disneyland. It seems like yesterday, we were taking him and he was watching the Electric Light Parade sitting on my shoulders. Now he towers over me.

It should be fun. How are you spending Mother's Day?

I'm enjoying hearing about Malice.

Mother's Day will be quiet around her. Hopefully, it won't rain!

Great picture, Betty. Glad you got home safely after your flying adventure. I'm still not sure of my Mother's Day plans except that I'll undoubtedly spend part of the day writing!

Sarita, I hope you get your wish of no rain. After spending the week prior to Malice in Chicago where it seemed either to rain or at least be gloomy, I understand how you feel

Linda, I'll probably being doing some writing, too. But it will be before we go. We always stay until Disneyland closes at midnight.

Nice photo!

Ooo, Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom. Great choice! I hope it won't be crowded; it's always a treat when the lines are short. You might enjoy "World of Color" if you haven't seen it. Maybe there's a preview of the upcoming Ariel's Adventure . . . . Those attractions are in California Adventure, but maybe you'll park hop.

Happy Mother's Day!

Planner, we'll definitely park hop. We have yearly passes. The weather is supposed to be gloomy with the possibility of drizzle. Yay, the park won't be so crowded.

Terri, somewhere along the line, I have learned not get upset about stuff. It makes life so much better.
