Quilt Show

The end of last week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday - I attended the Minnesota Quilters Show in Saint Paul. Jack and Linne Lindquist have a traveling bookstore called The Craftsman's Touch which they bring to quilt shows all over the midwest and sometimes farther. They sell mostly books of quilting patterns and instructions but also needlecraft fiction, and they invite various authors to come sit in their booth and autograph books, which is where I come in. I've become friends with them and it's a pleasure to chat between sales.

The show in Saint Paul was a medium-size one with dozens of vendors and lots of quilts on display. I didn't get a chance to wander around much, but, as usual, I was struck by the creativity that goes into modern quilt making.



Here I am in my current favorite signing outfit, pen at the ready, prepared to sign. That hat is even bigger than it looks.


And this is the quilt that won the most awards - note the ribbons hanging on it. I am ignorant enough about quilting that I couldn't say why. I thought this other quilt was quite as beautiful.
