Power in Numbers

One of the nice things about crochet and knitting is that groups of people get together and work on their projects. I belong to such a group and get so much more out of it than just help with my knitting. There is just something about being in the company with people who share an interest. And we share our lives as well.

One of the best parts is showing off our finished projects. I mentioned weeks ago in the blog that I was having trouble with a shrug I was making, but was determined to finish it anyway. I am pleased to say I kept the promise to myself, and did! I posted a photo of it on Facebook, but I really wanted to show it off to my group. They all make fabulous things and are more prolific than I am. I have been wowed many times by things they’ve made. They are an amazing bunch and can knit or crochet and talk at the same time. For me, it is still one or the other.

They had seen the shrug when it was just beginning, but other than Linda, didn’t know about the pitfalls I’d over come to complete it. After telling them about the lost stitches and having to start over, along with the breaking yarn Lion Brand ended up replacing, I brought it out to show them. They all oohed and aahed about what I’m calling a cocoon wrap. Then everyone wanted to try it on. Amazingly, it looked good on everyone and fit everyone.

I always feel wonderful after the group.

Is there something you do in a group setting?

Your shrug is lovely, Betty. The things I do most in a group setting are those dealing with books--critiquing and writing organizations and events. As you know, it's not all solitary!

Linda, writing groups are great because the actual work is so solitary.

A congenial group is the best mood-booster. We all need cheerleaders at just the right times.

I love your "cocoon wrap"! (You always have the perfect names for everything.) You'll be toasty warm come next winter.
