A Little of This and That

The days seem to have melted together this week. Can it really be Friday already? I am trying to finish the synopsis for the 9th crochet mystery which I’m calling Gone with the Wool. I used to hate writing synopsises (is that the plural?), but since I’m required to write one for each book, I have come to a grudging like of writing them. I know when I finish I will have a map for the book. Not that things won’t change when I write the actual book. Sometimes, people who died in the synopsis end up only badly injured in the real book when I like te character too much to kill them off.

While I’m doing the synopsis, I’m updating my website for the release of For Better or Worsted next month, andt also for a short article I’m sending out next week. The article is going to have links to a free knitting pattern and a free crochet pattern I’m adding to my website. But in order to add the patterns, I had to write them, make samples of the two scarves, and take their picture before passing it all on to my web guy. It’s kind of funny that it has taken so long to get everything together because the article is only about 400 words. Maybe article is the wrong thing to call it. I guess it is more like a filler piece. My web guy and I have been going back and forth all day checking on the changes. Good thing we did, or I would not have caught that I had repeated the fringe instructions twice. There are just a few more glitches to work out and then it will go live.

There’s more. I have gotten the rights back to my kids’ culinary mystery, Blue Schwartz and Nefertiti’s Necklace and am working with my agent to turn it into an e-book. We’re hoping to have it available in November. It should be an interesting experience.

A few weeks ago, I noticed on Facebook that there was a yarn show coming to Southern California. It’s called Yarnosphere and is October 12-13, and being held in the Anaheim building on the Orange County fair grounds. It’s their first year and I’m going to be sigining books the Custom Handspinning booth. The big challenge will be to leave without buying too much yarn.

I might get a little research in too because in book 9, Molly and the Hookers are handling a vendor booth at a yarn show.

Busy times, but then they always seem that way.

You've definitely got lots going on, Betty! Have fun with all of it. And I understand how you feel about synopses but they do seem to help me in the writing process.

Linda, I sent off the synopsis last night and my editor is going to look at it over the weekend. My website updates just went live and I sent off the artticle to be distributed. Such a great feeling.
