Distractions

I've been moving right along in my writing.  At the moment, I'm working on the first in my new mystery series that I'll blog about one of these days, but not yet.  I'm also writing some proposals for new stories.

However, I've also been getting a lot of distractions lately that slow me down--and I'm not talking about my dogs.  They're a good kind of distraction... mostly!

No, the distractions I've had involve a few things regarding my house, and stuff that needs to be done to and around it.  I'm mostly good at ignoring such things, but a couple of them caught up with me so I've had to take a little time to work on them.

Then, there are occasional family issues.  Most family issues, like with the dogs, are good distractions.  Lately, there's been another that hasn't taken a huge amount of time but does keep my mind from focusing on what I want it to.

On the other hand, I got in the "zone" almost unintentionally when my mind recognized that I was running out of time to finish what I'd intended to yesterday.  Yay!  Another chapter drafted.

Want to hear another story about my dogs?  Telling it will be another distraction before posting this blog, but it's a good one.  They're our alarm clock!  I've been setting our clock radio to wake us up every day including weekends at around 6:25. That's mostly because we've had things to do on weekend days, too, that required us to wake up early.  This past weekend, I set the clock radio on Saturday but not Sunday, and I told my husband before we went to bed--right in front of our still-alert dogs--that I purposely didn't set it.  Most days, the dogs ignore the clock radio when it first goes off and keep on sleeping.  This Sunday, they both woke up at 6:25 and woke us, too, to tell us what time it was!

What are the distractions in your life?

I have cat distractions. Rocky likes to climb next to my computer and sit in my lap.

Pet distractions are the absolute best, Betty!
