Time
marches on. No, it feels these days as
if it speeds relentlessly forward. Can
you believe that 2014 is half over already?
I'm a
full-time writer now, and the only "kids" I have at home are my
dogs. My husband's around, too, and he
takes on a lot of tasks as well as helping out with the pups.
Years ago,
I had a full-time job and also had our sons around and growing and needing lots
of attention. Plus, I was a part-time
writer. And, yes, we had dogs. My husband had a job and a business and lots
of stuff of his own to handle. Juggling
worked. We used a lot of time, but it
always seemed to flow well.
I'd always
assumed that I'd have a whole lot more time to accomplish things when I decided
to leave the full-time working world. I
used to be an in-house lawyer, and when I left that I took on law projects--and
did have some more time for writing.
But now I'm
not lawyering any longer. Do I have even
more writing time? Well, yes. And no.
There's always something else taking up my time, often related to
writing. Like letting the world know
about my latest releases. Book number
37, LOYAL WOLF, number 6 in my Alpha Force miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne,
will be an August release. I'm also
gearing up for the release of my first Superstition Mystery from Midnight Ink:
LOST UNDER A LADDER, which will be an October release.
I do spend
a lot of time writing, too. That's
partly because I'm currently writing four different series, since I'm also
working on another Harlequin Romantic Suspense book, plus I'm writing a second
mystery series for Midnight Ink. I've
mentioned some of that in past blogs and will undoubtedly mention them again.
And as I've
also reported here before, my dogs like lots of attention, which I give them,
of course.
So more
time in my life? It somehow doesn't seem
that way. What time I've got always
seems taken up by writing or promoting or dogs or personal projects or talking
to my husband or... well, it always seems taken up.
And that's
how the second half of 2014 just seemed to sneak up on me...

you, and does it improve or get worse as time goes on?

My biggest problem with time is that I seem to forget that the future becomes the present.
Four series! Wow!
The future definitely does become the present, Betty--but then more future opens up ahead of us!
And, yes, I suppose I'm a bit nuts but I sure have fun.
I'm kept home by a chronic illness and old injuries, but I used to be an LPN. I always wished for more time at home and imagined all the things I'd accomplish. What a laugh! Among housework, laundry and friends calling for help with computer troubles, I'm as busy as before.
Sorry to hear of your illness and injuries, Beverly, but at least you don't sound bored. And you can guide friends through computer troubles? That's great!
Time literally zooms. When I was a kid, it seemed to crawl. Now it runs at light speed.
