I was
pondering what to write about here today and none of my ideas really caught my
attention. I decided to do an online
crossword puzzle while I puzzled over a topic.
And then it
hit me. I should mention crosswords
again.
I blogged
here at Killer Hobbies a few months ago about crosswords. Unlike the "hobby" that got me my
invitation to join Killer Hobbies a while back, pets--whom I consider to be
family, not hobbies--doing crosswords actually is a hobby of mine.
I do them
online a lot these days, and if I'm writing something and reach a spot where
I'm not exactly sure what my characters are up to next, I'll often do a
crossword to set my mind free from the writing and allow my subconscious to get
into the act and figure things out for me.
I've got several online spots where I can do crosswords for free. I always enjoy them, and I do other kinds of
similar puzzles like acrostics to keep my mind working on words even when I'm
not writing.
Some
crosswords are clever, others are ordinary, and they generally always present
at least some challenge. So--thanks,
crosswords, for giving me my topic here today!
Now I'll return to the one I was working on when I got this idea. And after I'm done--well, I'll probably return
to the draft of my next Harlequin Nocturne that I'm currently writing.

I'm impressed at your crossword abilities. The only one I can manage is the one in People Magazine and it is part of my usual flying routine. When I'm in the position you were, I usually crochet.
I used to do a lot more crosswords than I do now... It's a good way to get the brain moving and sharpen word usage. I probably should do it more. Online makes sense and easier to follow up on. Coming Sept 13: Lizzie Borden, Zombie Hunter
