Ack!

This has been such a screwy week I can't keep track of the days.  Today is Tuesday and I am supposed to post an entry here.

My brother-in-law is dying in Intensive Care.  He went in for cancer surgery and a series of complications ensued and now he is in a coma and all that's left is a decision on when to stop the efforts to keep him alive.  Steve was an active sportsman, funny and decisive, and it's weird to think of him near death.  We're going to pay him a last visit a little later today.

I went to see my rheumatologist yesterday and complained that my bad knee was still stiff and hurting.  As I had a low-grade fever, he decided to pull some fluid from the joint and the result was about half a cup of cloudy, yellowish liquid which is going for a laboratory analysis.  So it seems that the long haul is not over yet.

My niece Regina ("Reggie") is on her way up here from Naples, Florida, should arrive late tonight or early tomorrow.  I've been making a list of places to take her which is now longer than her visit.  So she'll get to pick and choose.

My Ford should be finished being repaired later today if a needed part arrives.

See what I mean?  Life is all up in the air and complicated.

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. I hope your knee isn't anything serious!

Life is so complicated! Steve looks very calm, though there are about a dozen plastic bags hooked up to him and many devices reporting his temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and other things, and he is totally unresponsive. His brother flew in from Atlanta and is involved in the consultation about to happen over when to shut things off.

Meanwhile my niece was diverted from her route from Florida to Minnesota because of floods and bad roads and called awhile ago from Missouri (!). She says she will be here late tonight. Fingers crossed.

No early report yet on the knee - or the car.

Stay tuned.

So much going on, and so much of it not so good. Hope your car's okay, at least, and that things improve as much as possible.

Thanks, Linda. Picked the car up, paid the $500 deductible. Car looks great and it is wonderful to have it back.

Monica, I am always impressed on the way you report all that is going on. I'm sorry they aren't more positive, but you present them in such an interesting way.

Betty, I'm probably using this blog as more of a diary of late, which may or may not be a good thing. I think as I get back into writing the "diary" will diminish.

Oh, no! How horrible for you!

You certainly have had one heck of a year & it isn't over yet! All who know you wish you better health as the year unwinds. How good to get your car back & all fixed up. The lady who hurt your car sure has an interesting life . . . glad not to be her. It is sad to lose a family/friend who lived a full life. His job is done here, so celebrate he who was Steve. 2016 has certainly been a year of loses for you. Perhaps it has been a cleaning up in your life to open the way for new people & events. Hang in there & know you have lots of friends out there.
Best,
Gail
