L.A. Rain!

Yes, we had some rain over the past few days--here in Los Angeles!  Although we actually had an L.A. winter last year, we hardly had any precipitation here this year till this week.

And yes, it rained.  Some of it was just a steady but light flow. Some of it was heavy, loud, sewer-filling, curb-flooding precipitation.

Whoever thought I'd be so excited about rain!

Yes, the climate has changed over the years I've been living here.  When I first moved to L.A. from Pittsburgh, I used to say that when Pittsburgh weather forecasters said there was a fifty percent chance of rain, that meant there was a fifty percent chance of rain, but when L.A. forecasters said there was a fifty percent chance of rain, that meant it would rain fifty percent of the time!

That's not the case here any longer.  I'm glad to see rain that can help keep gardens growing, including ours, hopefully fill reservoirs so we can utilize water in our homes, and more.

And would I like to see more rain here this year?  Yes, yes, yes!  But so far our meteorologists don't sound entirely optimistic. The storm seems to be pretty much over.

Even so, this is a good time to stay home and write.  And plan and plot--and hopefully stay indoors.  For now.

I want to somewhat apologize here. I was talking about appreciating rain in my area, but I'm fortunate enough not to be anywhere affected by the horrible flooding that's occurring. I feel terrible for those who're suffering mudslides and flooding. I wrote most of this post yesterday Today there's hardly any indication we had rain around my home, and none forecast anytime soon, either.

Linda, the mudslides and flooding were terrible. I spent the rainy day or was it days in front of my computer. I remember looking out the window and see raindrops and then going outside later and seeing a rainbow.

I wish I'd seen the rainbow, Betty, though I saw pictures of it. And it's sad that the effects of the mudslides and flooding are still continuing.
