Now

I have this problem.  I tend to push off things that are in the future.  It's as if I don't realize that one day they will be now.

I am always surprised at February's shortness and have to remind myself how much quicker March 1, comes so I won't be late on bills.

I am all wrapped up in rewriting the next Yarn Retreat book now.  Once I finished with all the proof reading and corrections for SCONED TO DEATH,  I looked at it as off my plate and viewed the release at sometime in the distant future that I would think about later.

Then the other day, I got an invite to an event at a bookstore in May and the bookstore owner mentioned that SCONED TO DEATH  was coming out in June.  Suddenly, the foggy future seemed a lot sooner than I had thought.  I can't make the bookstore event because it is too far away, but it got my attention.

I sent off an email to see if I could set up a blog tour.  I signed up for the Mystery Writers of America  online webinar about promotion. and hope it will give me some  ideas.

The truth is for me that it is all about writing the books and then they're off on their own and belong to whoever reads them.

This reminder that the future becomes the present has definitely gotten my attention and I realized those first of the month bills better get paid now.

  1. Good morning -- I agree -- February's fewer days makes it difficult to remember the month is almost over. It's been a good month for me -- I found a great place to donate blankets -- my son has an art show and is busy working on that. That makes me happy for him. My grandson is on the varsity volleyball team -- it is definitely his game -- he's playing very well which makes him happy and it's good to see that.

We took a donation of blankets to the cancer treatment center yesterday. It's a huge building and all the people I encountered were so sweet and friendly. The donations coordinator was thrilled to get half a dozen blankets. It's great there is a place like that but sad to realize there are so many people going through cancer treatment.

The weather here is perfect -- high-70s to mid-80s. Probably be like this for three to four months, then the high heat sets in but as long as the a/c works well, it isn't too bad.

The aloe plants in my patio garden are sending up big flower stalks -- they have long, tubular flowers which are perfect for hummingbirds. My son's plants have some flower stalks that are almost eight feet high!!

Lawn guys are starting their racket -- they blow, edge, mow, blow again -- looks good when they are done. Just as long as they are done before my afternoon nap time!!

Get those bills paid!! I have mine all deducted automatically -- works perfectly for me.

  2. Patty, How wonderful that your son has an art show. It's great that your grandson found a sport he likes and is good at. Volleyball was one of the few sports I was okay at in high school.

I'm sure those blankets are appreciated. The colors alone must add cheer. I don't know about the place you went, but the lighting at Kaiser is so dismal that any bright spot helps.

I have had aloe plants but don't remember any flowers. I think there are still some in the yard and I'll have a look.

You weather for the near future sounds great. It went from cold and rainy last week to actually hot today. It's supposed to be in the 90s. I sat outside with my coffee thinking how wonderful it was to be able to do that when there is so much snow and cold other places.

This time I am very conscious of the date so won't miss anything.

  3. If you ever have an event in Florida or Arizona I'd hop on over to meet you. Fingers crossed.
February is a tricky month for sure. January feels like it has 300 days and then February just a mere 28. I always feel a little frustrated with March. Is it still winter or will it really be spring. Hard to tell this year as we've had record breaking cold here in Orlando. Happy weekend everyone!

  4. I didn't see it officialy, but I heard that OLD groundhog said 6 more weeks of winter. We lucky westerners never what is going to happen out here. I think it is 90 today , but relatives in the east still have some snow around. Serves them right for leaving their lovely birthplace in CA, and making grandma/great grandma [me] feel bad !
Patty, I'm sure you are hearing about the Gutherie story constantly. We certainly are, and can certainly pray Nancy may still be found.

    1. It's a sad story -- since her medication was not taken when she was abducted, there is grave concern for her health.

  5. Somehow I became anonymous above, probably my computer skills.

  6. Time is always fluid, at least in our minds, Betty. And if you want it to slow down or speed up, it always seems to do the opposite--at least to me!

  7. Sally, It would be cool if we could all meet up. You have had cold and we've had a mild winter. i judge by what pants I wear and I think I only wore sweat pants once or twice. With our weather now, I'm wearing my summer stretchy pants. But who knows. The weather could change and I'd be back to my warm pants. The only thing they all have in common is that they are comfortable.

    Happy weekend to you!

  8. Linda Osborn, I bet your family is missing their homeland now. The sun, blue sky and warmth are such mood lifters.

It is horrible about Nancy Guthrie. It is hard to believe with all the door cameras and such that they have so little to go on.

  9. Linda Johnston, You're right about time being fluid. Every now and then I get stuck waiting or am impatient and time seems to go in slo mo. Now its interesting me to see how it feels.
