Hot, Hot, Hot!

I was pretty happy moving to Los Angeles many years ago. I came from an area where winters were really winters, with cold and snow and all. Here in L.A. winter was always somewhat temperate, even though we got rain—which we needed.

But these days nearly everyone has issues with the weather wherever we live. Our temperature this week is hotter than it’s been in March for ages, maybe ever. I know it’s a whole lot better than snowstorms and tornadoes, and I’m even feeling a bit ashamed that I’m even mentioning the heat here when so many people are suffering from really bad conditions. And I still think I live in a good place for weather—although I do wish we’d get a lot more rain than the large amount we had a few weeks ago that stopped quickly. I’ve always been more of a fan of cool weather, though not necessarily freezing, instead of heat. Needless to say, I’m not exactly thrilled about our current weather. But I’m not really complaining –much. Those of you who’re reading this could have it a lot worse.

So what do I do in the heat? I stay at my computer in the AC and, yes, write and edit. And I’m also glad we have AC for our furry pups.

It seems like we are never completely happy with the weather! Where I live in Northern Alberta, Canada we have brutal winters. Temperatures usually range from -20 Celsius to -45 Celsius for nearly 5 months and this year we have had record snow fall amounts and terrible snow removal service from our city. Every year we dream of summer days and daylight until 11 pm. Then summer finally comes and we never have enough rain so there is always forest fires all around along with the smoke that comes with it. We had an enormous fire here in 2016 so everyone is always on edge and almost wishing that it were winter again just so we can relax our minds without the fear of fire. There is no winning!

Wow, Sharon. As I said, I probably shouldn't be complaining. We never get enough rain these days either, and the fires in California keep making the news. And your snow doesn't sound at all fun. Stay safe!

There has been crazy weather everywhere lately. But who knows. It could do a big swing here and get cool with rain again.

I hope you're right, Betty. We could definitely use some rain--and much cooler weather!

The weather this winter has been so strange. My daughter lives in Mesa, AZ and they usually get some chilly weather in the winter. They've had none. And Utah had barely any snow. Whereas here in Orlando we had several nights in the 20's and lost a lot of our plants. Even now in March we've had cooler than normal weather. So strange.
