Travel and Unreal Animals

I’m sure those of you who read my blogs and any of my books know how much I love animals, especially dogs. But I guess I also like fictional creatures, or at least somewhat. My husband and I went to see How to Tame Your Dragon, and I really enjoyed the animation combined with real people. I came to care a lot for the main dragon in the cast!

Last week, we were traveling with family in the east, visiting Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. I’d been to both but not for a long time, and it was particularly fun to be seeing the sights again, this time with our grandsons who hadn’t been there before. They seemed impressed with sights like the Liberty Bell and interesting places and monuments in D.C.

Home now with the dogs, who were well cared for by our usual sitter part of the time and our younger son for the rest. It’s always fun to be greeted by them when we get home.

And now, unsurprisingly, I’m back to my writing.

  1. Good morning -- "How to Tame Your Dragon" looks like it might be fun to see -- I haven't been to a movie in ages -- most are too violent or vulgar for me.

We went to Washington DC in 1984!! It is a very impressive city. I remember seeing the Pentagon from the airplane as we got close to landing. We were on a guided tour of the area which was great -- it was early April and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom -- gorgeous.

There were a couple minor earthquakes in my daughter's area a couple days ago. One of her dogs wasn't bothered at all, the other had a panic attack. Loud noises bother both of them -- she got thunder shirts for them which hopefully will help with the coming 4th of July -- there are always lots of loud booms around her place.

You continue with your writing -- I continue with my crocheting. I had just put the last stitch in a blue blanket when I got a text from my son, asking if I had a blanket for a baby boy -- a friend is expecting any day. I sent Danny a picture -- he texted back "Wow, you're fast!"

He and my grandson are bringing Taco Bell for lunch today -- we'll be trying their new crispy chicken tacos.

Enjoy your writing, your pups and whatever else you do.

  2. I've promised my grandsons I will take them to see that movie. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not much of a traveler lately but usually happy to go and happy to return. Always glad to reunite with my kitty and my own bed.

    1. We get a discount on movies on certain days, Patty, so we've been going often if there's anything we think we might like. I wasn't sure about How to Train Your Dragon but decided to see it anyway, and really enjoyed it.

Yes, D.C. is impressive. Just saw how the weather has gotten worse since we were there so I'm glad we were there at the right time!

Sorry about the earthquakes near your daughter, but at least they were minor. Hope the scared dog is okay now and both will deal okay with the fireworks.

Enjoy your Taco Bell lunch and whatever else you do today too!

  3. Oops. That last response to Patty appeared late. Anyway, I hope you and your grandsons enjoy the movie, Sally. And yes, it's always fun to reunite with our own pets and homes.

  4. Based on your comment I plan to see How To Tame Your Dragon. I wasn't sure until now. Dogs are always welcoming to you when you come home from a trip. Cats not so much.
