Oh, nuts!

Riddle:  I add five to nine and get two.  This is correct, but how?

I went to a friend’s sixtieth birthday party on Sunday and had a great time.  The party was held in a church hall – husband and wife are long-time members of that church – and about sixty people came.  But when I got home, I discovered my wallet was gone.  I was deeply shocked and dismayed.  And outraged.  And sad.

Anyone who has suffered such a loss knows the extreme aggravation that ensues.  There wasn’t much money in the wallet, but it could have been a lot and it still wouldn’t have been as infuriating as the loss of the other stuff.  All my life was in there.  Driver’s license, credit card, bank card, Sam’s Club and AAA membership card, car insurance card, discount cards for various places, etc., etc., etc.  It’s going to be a terrific nuisance to get those things replaced.  We cancelled the credit card immediately, of course.

And now you know what I’ll be doing all day today.

Answer to Riddle:  Add five hours to nine o’clock and get two o’clock.

That must be an awful feeling. Do you think it was taken by a "friend" at the church? Was there hired help at the hall?
Still it is such a bother to replace all those cards.

I was thinking "you're doing your arithmetic in duodecimal". And by golly, the clock is duodecimal. This is probably not the usual way in which such problems are solved.

What a bummer, Monica. Good luck getting all of your cards replaced soon.

So sorry you wallet was stolen. In addition to all the miseries of losing all the important stuff in your wallet, the thought of being violated like that is awful. And at church no less!

I tried one of those small all-in-one purses to put all my important items in. It had a small strap that went over the shoulder. I thought, now I won't lose anything. Unfortunately the purse straps hurt my shoulder and I would take the purse off of my shoulder, not remembering what I was doing. It was a black purse and when it was dark outside, on the bus it would blend in with the seats. I left it on the bus one day and never got it back.

I hope the thief left the wallet part someewhere around the church.

Best

How sad for that to happen at a birthday party and at a church.

It is too bad, but you just can't leave your purse anywhere.
