Stitches

I arrived in Chicago Wednesday night expecting to walk into a hot stuff apartment. Instead with just some fresh air and a fan it was perfectly comfortable. Is it really August?

Saturday I’m going to Stitches Midwest at the Schaumberg Renaissance hotel and convention center. I have been to the Knit and Crochet Show in several cities, but Stitches is supposed to be a lot larger. Judging from the map of the vendors I looked at, I’d say a lot lot larger.

It goes on all weekend and there are lots of classes and events, along with wonderful shopping opportunities.

I’m going to be signing Yarn to Go at the Crochetville booth in the Marketplace from 12:30 to 1:00 at least. I’m only going to be at Stitches for the day, so the rest of my time will be spent going around the Marketplace. I’m planning to give out bookmarks to vendors and people I talk to. It is always interesting to see if they’ve heard of my mystery series and if not, it’s a chance to tell them about both of them

I’m wondering if there is any chance I will get out of there without buying some yarn. Probably not since I got excited just reading the names of the booths. I mean how can you pass up handpainted yarn? So, it is more an issue of not buying too much yarn. If only I could crochet and knit in my sleep...

I love the idea of seeing what’s new in yarn and what people are making. If it’s like the other shows I’ve been to, just walking around is like seeing a fashion of show. Most of the attendees wear something spectacular that they’ve made.

It’s so amazing that a whole new world has opened up to me since I started writing yarn related mysteries. I didn’t know shows like this existed. I can’t wait!

Plasnner, Crochetville is a website. One of the co owners,Amy Shelton, was the president of the Crochet Guild. Needless to say, she is a fabulous crocheter.
