Interestingly,
the genre is interpreted broadly. I read
from my most recent Harlequin Nocturne paranormal romance Untamed Wolf, the recently
published fifth book in my Alpha Force miniseries about a covert military unit
of shapeshifters. Another author, Sharon
Hamilton, read from Cruisin' for a SEAL,
one of her sexy romance series books featuring Navy SEALS. Another, Beth Yarnall, who founded Lady
Jane's Salon OC, read from Dyed and Gone,
one of her cozy mystery series, and the fourth, Skylar Kade, read from her writing
group's Paranormal Western Romance Parody called The Zillionaire Vampire Cowboy's Secret Werewolf Babies. We all did an excellent job, of course. And the whole event was a lot of fun!
It's a good
venue for interacting with other authors, for one thing. I talked with some long-time friends as well
as some newer friends, and also happened to talk to someone who lives in the
area where a mystery series I'm starting to write is located. It didn't hurt that the restaurant was small
and charming, although I'd have preferred their deferring the use of noisy food
blenders until times when no one was reading.

My commute
there on a weekday evening took nearly two hours, by the way, although my
return drive was only about forty minutes.
I'd love to attend again and probably will, but I do wish traffic was
kinder in L.A.

The Lady Jane Salon sounds like fun.
Too bad traffic was so bad. Here in L.A. we have access to so much like the ocean, mountains and desert, except it has become such a chore to get anywhere, the access doesn't mean much anymore.
And it gets worse every year, Betty, even to areas served by public transportation. I was glad I had access to the Metro during my most recent law job in downtown L.A.
