Life is a Blessing

The epitaph of a philosopher:

John Kindell, 1759, Age 63, Dunstable, Mass.
Life is a Blessing can’t be sold
The Ransom is too high,
Justice will ne’er be brib’d with gold
That man may never die.
You see the Foolish & the Wise
The Tim’rous & the Brave
Quit their Possessions, close their eyes
And hasten to the Grave.

Well, I think my feet may drag a little.

On Monday we went to the photo studio of Patrick Nau to pick up our copies of the pictures he took of Ellen and me and our two cats, Panzi and Snaps.  Here I am with Snaps.  He was great during the shoot, eager to look around, alert toward the photographer, startled into attention when the flash went off.  He’s such a great cat!  Except for his allergies, that is.  And dig those crazy earrings!

I went grocery shopping yesterday and saw that peaches were on sale, and so were blueberries.  Last summer a nearby farmer’s market had gotten in a huge shipment of over-ripe peaches and was selling them cheap.  I bought some and already had some blueberries so I mixed them in a pie that was totally delicious.  And now I’m going to do it again.  You can find the recipe here – skip over the part that gives you the calorie and carb count! http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/peach-blueberry-pie

I think I’ve got the plot to Eye for an Eye figured out – except for one small part: What major clue tells Betsy who (among several equally suspicious suspects) did it?  I have the inkling of a notion of an idea, and I have a medical procedure this morning that will give me some fastened-down time to consider it.

The secret to a fabulous blueberry peach pie is lemon. Add the juice and zest of one lemon instead of the other spices. Won awards with this one!

He's a terrific animal, lively, friendly, fearless, inquisitive, very affectionate. But he's allergic to just about everything! Right now he's eating a hydrongenated prescription cat food which has stopped his persistent throwing up - but he's still very loose in the back end. Fortunately, he makes it to the cat box every time.

Lemon, you say! Thanks for that tip, I'll try it!

What a great picture, Monica! Snaps look like a cat we had called Apricat. We named her because of her color and when we found her, she was eating an apricot that had fallen off our tree. She was a stray and very hungry and thirsty.

Your pie sounds yummy.
