Everything I ever learned ...

... I learned from quotes.

Call me shallow, but I love quotes. I hang on to those pithy, out of context words of wisdom that can get me through a crisis, inspire me, or confirm my deeply held beliefs. Or, simply make me laugh.

My husband loves quotes, too. In fact he comes up with several a day as he engages in his favorite pastimes: doing acrostics and cryptograms. Some of the quotes rate a place on the walls of his office.

Here are a few of his choices that have also worked for me. See if they do anything for you.

** Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

** If you're playing poker and you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

** Always be wary of any helpful item that weighs less than its operating manual.

And one from Yogi Berra: If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

What are your words to live by?

I saw this one on a scrapbooking blog last year and I've never forgotten it (but I don't know who said it):
"Some days you just have to put on your big girl panties and deal with it."

I like dear old Fred Allen's, "I don't know what anyone would write a book when for a few dollars he can buy one."

Oh, I know my husband is going to want these new ones on his wall!

Lily Tomlin again:
I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.

I love these quotes! I have the following on a bulletin board in my office:
"Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat."
Sounds like something a general would say, right? But the person quoted is...
F. Scott Fitzgerald

My favorite one, courtesy of my dad: "Unless you're the lead sled dog, the view never changes."
