Book 2 in my Pet Rescue Mystery series, THE MORE THE TERRIER, will be an October release. I’m thrilled--and I’m also stressed!
It’s not that I’m new to promoting my books, but I’m doing more of it as time, and my career, go on. I admit that I most likely did more for the first book in the series, BEAGLEMANIA, but I’m also working on setting up a lot of signings, blogs and more for THE MORE THE TERRIER. I always promoted my Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter mysteries, too, and additionally promote my Harlequin Nocturnes, but I’ve ramped up what I used to do.
Did I mention I have two Nocturne Bites being published in the next two months, too?-- HAWK’S CHALLENGE in October and COUGAR’S CONQUEST in November.
I’ve said it before, and so have a lot of writing friends, but I used to think that writers just write. But there’s so much more to it now!
I do admit to enjoying a lot of it, much to my surprise. But it’s really time-consuming to get all these promo ducks in a row.
You know what really helps? My doggy family. As I write this, Lexie and Mystie are lying by my feet, the epitomes of canine moral support.
Is it any wonder that I write about pets?
My husband Fred is here for me, too, listening patiently whether my screams are of joy or frustration.
One fun thing that keeps occurring is that I’ve gotten a lot more invitations recently to participate in events at libraries and elsewhere that I didn’t initiate myself, but I’m excited to agree.
Another thing... well, I Googled THE MORE THE TERRIER yesterday and found out something about it that I didn’t know about its marketing. I’m still looking into it so I won’t reveal it here, but I’m utterly thrilled!!
By the way, I’ve enjoyed how some of my blog sisters have mentioned birds in their posts lately. I’m an utter bird aficionado, even if I can’t identify a lot of them. At least none of our backyard contingent has been teasing Mystie lately.
How do you handle things when you’ve a new venture of any kind about to occur, whether it’s a book launch, a new job, or anything else?

Congrats! I love the title.
I've been lucky enough to do panels and book signings with other authors. That's the most fun.
Library events are wonderful. You're sure to get readers who know their stuff. Enjoy it all.
Thanks, Terri! I will and do enjoy all of it. And I agree that interacting with other authors is the most fun.
Last year, I went to 22 bookstores in the Chicago area and signed stock when You Better Knot Die came out.
This year I'm going to the Fall Knit and Crochet Show. Behind the Seams won't be out, but I have bookmarks with the cover and have donated two ARC to the silent auction.
