Typing in an excerpt from the book is just tedious, but not hard. I have to use the ARC (advanced readers copy) and hold it open with my elbows so I can copy the first few pages.
Then comes the I’m not sure how to do it part. I think there’s an Amazon associate code that goes with my books., but I’m not sure how to find it. I can’t even figure out how to get into my Amazon associate account. I’m sure there’s a way and if I spend enough time fiddling around, I’ll figure it out. But I don’t look forward to doing it.
I include at least one pattern in my books and since there are just instructions with no visuals, I like to include photographs of the finished items. Something I call impatient crochet is featured in Behind the Seams. The book has patterns for a cell phone sock, an eyeglass case and a small purse. But when I went to look in the room that has all my crochet stuff, I couldn’t find the samples I’d made. So, I had to make new samples. That was fun, sort of. I worried that the pieces wouldn’t turn out to be perfect. But then if they were perfect, they wouldn’t look handmade.
My son was nice enough to photograph them, but then he said something about each photo being huge file and that my web guy will have to compress them or something. I’m hoping Mr. Web Master knows what the “or something” is because I don’t know what to tell him. I had enough trouble trying to get the photos off the card from the camera and save them on my computer. I just hate those screens were none of the options they offer are what you are trying to do.
I think starting to get everything together was really the hardest part. Once I get past that obstacle, I know I will finish. What about you? Do you find it harder to start something, or to finish it?
Oh, and I’m including the photo of the cell phone sock. It is in it’s huge file state, so who knows what will happen. And if anyone has suggestions about the Amazon associate code, I'd love to hear it.

For me, starting AND finishing something with hurdles are both difficult.
Mr. Web Master will definitely know how to compress your photos, without your giving any instructions. It should be the first thing he looks at when you send the photos to him. All webmasters should be concerned about keeping file sizes low and how long a page takes to load.
About the Amazon Associates code, it's easiest to create it if you can log in to your Amazon Associates page. There's an Amazon Associates hyperlink in the top right corner of the home page of Amazon.com. Once you get in, there's a Links and Banners tab at the top of the page with a choice of Products Link underneath. That's the page that can help you create a link to your book page on Amazon.
If all else fails, Amazon.com has THE nicest customer service of any company I've ever contacted. So, contact them if you need them. I guarantee they'll be nice to you.

I once tried to get my website revamped so I could update it, Betty. Mistake! I've got a good webmaster who knows how to do a lot of fun stuff, so I leave it all up to her.
