Last week I
wrote about Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. When I think about England , my mind gravitates, after
Cavaliers, to the Beatles. One of the
Beatles songs that has been echoing through my mind lately is "Ob-La-Di,
Ob-La-Da"--because of its oft-repeated lyrics “Life goes on.”
And it does
go on. In the past months I’ve blogged
about some losses in my family--my younger brother, and, more recently, my
dad.
But now
I’ve got some family news to be delighted about: I’m a new grandma!
My older
son and d-i-l recently had an adorable baby boy. His name is Elliott. They unfortunately don’t live near me, but I’ve
met him by Skype, and I’ll have an opportunity to visit him--all of them--soon.
All the
changes in my family and its dynamics have made me really stop and wonder more
about life, its meaning, and how to live it to the fullest. Bad stuff happens, but so does good
stuff--and it can outweigh the bad.
Definitely!
I’m glad
I’m a writer, since I can get lost in my writing--and I can use my emotions,
save them in my mind, then put them down into a story that helps by being
cathartic.
In any
event, I’m now back to being almost normal... and I’m a grandma!
What’s going
on--good or bad--in your life?
