I was
waiting for Fred, my husband, to get through a line to conduct some business
the other day. I was seated in a waiting
area, and there was a lot of light coming through the windows.
I looked
up—and gasped. There, illuminated by the
light, was a man I believed, for a moment, that I recognized: my brother Rob,
who had passed away just over a year ago.
This man’s
hair was reddish. His build was
substantial and he wore a shirt and jeans that looked like Rob’s style. He had a mustache and a familiar-looking
frown. Even his gestures looked
familiar.
Of course,
as I continued to watch him, I noticed the differences. He didn’t look like Rob so much straight on,
only in profile. We spoke about
trivialities a little later and he didn’t sound like Rob.
But I’d
been justifiably startled.
Yes, I know that there are only so many different characteristics among people. I’ve seen other strangers who reminded me, in small ways, of friends.
But I came
away from this brief but disturbing experience knowing that, somehow, I need to
use it in a story!
How about
you—have you ever seen a “doppelganger” of someone you know who startled you?

Oh yes. One incident concerned Mrs. Rowe, the restauranteur I wrote about. I saw her everywhere after she passed away. I began to think I was being haunted.
So it's not just me, Mollie...!
Not that I recall. But strange things do happen
That's for sure, Janie!
What an interesting story and good material to use in one, particularly if there is some paranormal stuff going on. Like maybe for just a moment a spirit who' passed on somehow draped themselves over a person to show someone that they still exist.
