No More Worries

Very short blog this week. I am frantically trying to finish the book that for now I’m call My Favorite Yarn. Since I include patterns and recipes in all my books, I am working on those at the same time. I have made the pattern in my head, but doing it in reality is always a lot different.

Just a hint, it is going to be for a worry doll. The point is that you’re supposed to give the doll your worries to worry about at night and leave your own mind free. I have never seen a knit version of the little Guatemalan dolls. Mine is going to be much bigger (will hold more worries perhaps). I bought the yarn today and am so excited about making it. I have been wanting to make toys all along and this is my chance to make the first one.

At the same time, I’m getting ready to go to Chicago. It means taking care of things here before I leave, along with figuring what I’m taking with. I don’t worry about taking clothes. I have enough stuff in my place there to manage. It is things like the supplies to make the worry doll. I am hoping to have this draft done before I go on Monday so I can print up a hard copy to take with. I get a better sense of the flow of things when I work from a hard copy than when I just read it on a screen.

The picture is a group of worry dolls that came from Guatemala. I think I’ll drop off my worries about finishing everything with the dolls tonight before I go to bed. Supposedly the worries will be gone by morning. Let’s see what happens.

I love the idea of worry dolls, and the dolls are so cute! I look forward to seeing your version of the dolls. Let them worry about designing themselves . . . .

Have a great trip!

Planner, I hope you're right and the dolls design themselves.

I bought a tiny set of worry dolls when I visited New Orleans many years ago. I'm not a fan of dolls, but I'd love to create an animal version!

What a cool idea, Katreader. Like maybe a cat worry doll. I'll have to play with the idea.

Cats never worry, I'd prefer a dog worry doll. LOL

A dog worry doll sounds good to me, too. Were your worries gone when you woke up, Betty?

Monica, and I don't thing cats would like the job of taking over our worries for us.

Linda, surprisingly, I don't seem to be worried about the manuscript I'm trying to finish, the worry doll design or my trip tomorrow. Maybe the concept really works.
