Weather Or Not

I live in sunny Southern California.  What happened to El Nino around here?  We're still in a drought, and although other parts of California have had some effects, Los Angeles has seen very little rain so far this year.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, so I know what snow is.  Some years we were even snowed in for a while, but I never experienced anything as bad as the current conditions that I keep seeing in the news.  I feel sorry for those of you who live in areas where you've had to deal with huge amounts of snow already.  Or floods.  Or both.

This is a very strange year, weather-wise.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that my first Barkery & Biscuits Mystery BITE THE BISCUIT is a finalist in the fiction category for the Dog Writers Association of America's annual Maxwell Awards.  I was thrilled when I heard, and I'm still thrilled!  So thrilled, in fact, that I made arrangements to attend the seminar and awards ceremony, more for the experience and meeting others involved than any expectation of winning.

And yet, that event is in New York City on February 14.  What will the weather be?  Will the current storms be over and not succeeded by anything similar, at least not by then?  I can only keep my fingers crossed.

The date is just before the Westminster Dog Show in New York, so I also wonder if it will be able to go forward as planned.

I really hope I get to attend the seminar and awards ceremony, but in any event my thoughts and sympathy are with those of you who've been dealing with that horrible weather.

Linda; finger crossed that the weather is good for you and that you win. How cool to be nominated with other people who write about dogs.

Thanks, Betty! I'm looking forward to it.
