I've had an
odd week.
First, the
good. My husband and I spent nearly a
week in Indiana
visiting our older son, d-i-l and two grandsons--as well as our granddog. It was a delightful trip! I'm always delighted to spend a little time
with our grandsons, and I certainly had fun this time.
Then we
flew back to LAX--where the bad occurred.
Klutzy me fell down right on my knees in the baggage claim area. I thought right away that one was broken, and
I was correct. One good thing, though,
was how nice all the people around were, trying to help and expressing
concern. One in particular, a Southwest
Airlines employee, especially impressed me by his concern and assistance. Sure, it was his job, but I thought he
performed way over any expectations.
And the
ugly? Well, my husband drove me to the
hospital nearest our home, where x-rays confirmed that my right knee was
broken. We've been sharing the ugly
confirming x-ray picture with family and friends. The thing is painful, I've got a brace and
walker, and I'll be having surgery this week.
Another
ugly thing about it is that the meds I'm on make me sleepy so I'm not getting
the amount of writing done that I'd planned for. I might have to request a deadline extension.
Anyway,
hopefully I'll be able to sit at the computer next week and let you know I'm
healing well. We'll see...
But
meantime, my Great Escapes Virtual Book Tour goes on, promoting my new release
BAD TO THE BONE, the third Barkery & Biscuits Mystery. I may not be able to run around as much as
I've been doing to let the world know about this release, or the
next--PROTECTOR WOLF, my eighth Alpha Force paranormal romance for Harlequin
Nocturne, which comes out in June. But
I'll do all I can!
BTW, speaking of odd weeks, I just
learned that Harlequin is no longer going to be publishing Nocturnes after
next year. Sad! I'll miss my covert military unit of
shapeshifters.

Oh, Linda, I am so sorry about your knee. Also sorry to hear about the demise of Nocturne. With that door closing, I'm sure you will find another one opening. Good luck with your surgery and I have my fingers crossed you have a speedy recovery.
