Usually for a weekend crop, my preparation involves ordering pictures, sorting through paper and embellishments, and figuring out how I'm going to pack everything, and planning out what outfit I will wear for each day. (I want to make sure my comfy and cute attire pieces are all washed and ready for me to wear.) For the crop retreat I'm attending at the end of September, I'm also going to bring some dust covers that I'll be sewing over the next few weeks.
This year, after some encouragement, I decided to sew some of the covers to sell at the weekend scrapbooking retreat and donate the profits to Cropping for a Cause which hosts the event the event.
My two favorite items to sew are baby blankets and the covers and since I've been asked to slow down on the blankets as the two little ones I gift them to have a ton, I'm going with the covers or as my daughter called them "outfits" which she thought I had enough of for my Cricut and Cameo. Since we're in the process of downsizing, sewing the covers it a good way to use my fabric stash and also enjoy my sewing hobby. It's been kind of stressful around here lately with my youngest moving out (we're empty nesters) and a renovation project, so being able to sew an item I enjoy making is comforting and it's a huge bonus to know they'll (hopefully) help raise some money.
Here are some of the fabrics I'll be using for the covers:
