Squeezing Out the Words
Well, ON THE HOOK is finally out. I was very happy to see that Barnes & Noble had it as one of its mysterious book picks.
And then it was back to work on everything else. Oh my goodness, there is a lot going on. I am working hard on the next Yarn Retreat Mystery which is going to be called INHERIT THE WOOL. I am working on the pattern for a fun scarf and also working on the muffin recipe I’m going to include.
The thing about writing, for me at least, is that working hard turns out to not work very well. I can’t make the words come out . It seems the harder I try, the more the words escape me. And the worst is when I have this imaginary editor in my head endlessly saying "that doesn’t track" about what I’ve just written. The best thing is to step away from the computer and fold laundry or something. But when you have a deadline, it is hard to step away.
So, here I am trying to squeeze words out like they're the last dabs of the toothpaste in a tube. My characters are being very mute and they are refusing to do anything interesting. Grrr!
I type a little and then stop and look out the window. I have a view of the lime tree in the yard with other trees behind it, so all I see are different shades of green leaves. The day is fading slowly. The dragging of it getting dark for some reason makes me feel melancholy.
On a more positive note, I finally got to go to my knit and crochet group this morning. I’ve been away so long that I missed the good bye party for one of our organizers, and was surprised to see a number of women I’d never met. I ended up having a great conversation with someone who has been coming for awhile, but who I never really got to know other than she was a wonderful crocheter. Today I found out about her life. So interesting that she was a graphic artist and worked in advertising when they didn’t hire women. I love hearing about people’s lives – they’re always filled with surprises.

Fun note from Amazon today ! They are refunding 72 cents to my account, because the price of ON THE HOOK went down that much from the time I preordered. Wow, and of course they sent it to me 8 days early too...I am indeed a "prime" customer!
Congratulations on your new release! And isn't creativity fun? It seems to want to run on its own schedule.
Linda Osborn, how nice that Amazon treats you so well.
Linda O. Johnston, good luck on all your endeavors!
