Anything New?

No, not really.

End of today's post.

Well, maybe not. But the Groundhog Day I described last week hasn't really ended. I'm still home and writing most of the time--mostly editing the manuscript I'll be turning in soon, but also planning and making notes on what's next. I keep the internet on in the background and check social media now and then. I walk my dogs a lot and obey their commands, and of course they're happy.  I visit grocery stores occasionally and carefully. I do online crosswords and other word games.

Sound familiar? It's pretty much what I said last week.

But I hadn't mentioned texting family and friends, and sometimes talking to them on the phone. That's always enjoyable.

And I get to do some bird watching in my backyard. There are hummingbird feeders over the porch outside that I can see as I write through a window.  And a couple of yellow finches have been trying to get into that window lately, though I don't know why. I hear a lot of other birds, see and hear crows flying around as usual, and watch a hawk land on a tree nearby and observe the world. I hear some birds tweeting, and since I'm far from being an expert on birds I don't know who they are. And I accompany my dogs into the yard to protect them from some over zealous mockingbirds. But seeing birds is mostly fun, at least, and though I see birds most of the year there are more in the spring.

So tune in next week? Maybe I'll say the same things all over again.

I don't know where you are located. I'm in Florida and though our state has begun reopening not much has changed for me. People and businesses are taking it slow. Thank goodness for gifted writers keeping me occupied. The good thing about this pandemic is that I get to read. Thank you for keeping up on your craft. I appreciate you.

Thanks so much! And I appreciate you. I love writing, but I'm happiest knowing that readers like what I do.

Glad that people and businesses are taking things slow during your reopening. I can understand wanting to get things back closer to normal, but only if it's safe. I'm in Los Angeles and although reopening of some businesses and locations is being discussed, it'll take a while.

Those mocking birds are something else. They've gone after our pets. I've watched them chase crows and hawks. They have no idea of their size.

That's for sure, Betty. Years ago I let my dogs go into the backyard on their own, but some mockingbirds started attacking them--possibly because it was spring then, and their nesting season. From then on, I've been accompanying the dogs into the yard just in case the mockingbirds get vicious again.
