I was originally going to post something different about the Fourth, a description of how mine went while watching and listening to fireworks from my home at the edge of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. There was a lot fun about it, as usual, but also some not-so-fun things, like some illegal fireworks set off close to my home in a homeless encampment, although apparently it wasn’t the homeless who set them off but some people in expensive cars. Dangerously close to people, homes, and areas of dryness! But the rest of the usual display around the perimeter of the Valley was fun, as always, and so was our view of the Universal Studios fireworks.
So now? I’m writing. Big surprise. But as always, it’s fun.
And I’m obeying my dogs, who both have hearing issues so the booms of the Fourth’s fireworks didn’t bother them much.
Anyway, I hope
you all had an enjoyable Fourth and that your summer is going well.

I love the 4th of July. One of my favorite holidays. Though the illegal fireworks make me a bit nuts. I tried to just focus on being with my family and enjoying the time. Happy Birthday to the US. Hope you're having a great week.
Thanks, Sally! I generally enjoy our country's birthday party each year and seeing the celebrations in my area. This one was just a little different, but it worked out fine. Hope you're having a great week, too!
Linda, it seemed like the illegal fireworks were worse than other years. It's always a worry with the dry brush.
