This time, when computer issues struck, I was working on a final edit for one of my Harlequin Romantic Suspense books and had to respond to comments and questions from my editor in a track changes format. All was going well—at first. And then the track changes portion of my manuscript started acting really strange—part way through the edit.
Fortunately, I was able to access it on another computer where all appeared well, but I was definitely concerned for a while.
I’m about to send that edit off. And then get back to work on my next Alaska Untamed mystery.
Wish me luck!

Best of luck. Computer issues are no joke. We are ongoing subscribers to The Geek Squad. Since we are self-employed, we consider them our IT department.:)
Thanks, Sally! We subscribe to Geek Squad too and should probably get them to visit again soon. But I suspect they'll tell me to trash my old desktop computer... and maybe I should.
I find that the version of Word you're using affects how the track things show up. Sometimes the settings change on their own. I have had the color change for the type. Also if your editor had a different version of Word than you do weird things can happen. I know that when I'm using my Mac laptop, Word is a lot different.
I don't know if you've had this problem, but out of nowhere, the formatting will get screwed up with blank spaces I can't get rid of. Good luck!
I wound up having to change the version of Word I was using a while back because of an editing issue. My editor told me my version was somehow badly affecting their system! I had a lot less trouble before the change, though.
