Disney Cruise Retrospective

Last week I was on a cruise in the Caribbean on the Disney Wish with some family members, including grandsons. Fantastic time!

This is the inaugural season for the Disney Wish, though this wasn’t the first sailing. Very nice ship—our first Disney cruise, though we’ve been on a lot of other cruises.

We began our trip at Cape Canaveral and toured around, including participating in a session where we got to meet an astronaut. Very interesting and enjoyable. I even bought a mug that says “I need my space.”

When we boarded, our cabin was on Deck 11, and we had a very nice view of the sea as we sailed. We also went to other decks to watch too. Fun viewing shows and “meeting” Disney characters. In fact, I had my picture taken with Pluto—a dog, of course. You can see it on my Facebook page.

Our dinners were in different onboard restaurants but with the same wait staff who got to know us and served us well, with different cuisines in each locale.  Breakfasts and lunches were in various cafeterias and restaurants. We also had a very nice cabin steward who amused us with the way he created various things with our blankets. My favorite was a giraffe.

This was a short cruise. First stop: Nassau, Bahamas. I toured the Atlantis Resort and the others went to a waterpark with a water slide. I walked around and explored the shops and more. Next stop was at Castaway Cay, a Disney island with beaches and, yes, shops.

On our final night at sea, part of the entertainment was fireworks off the starboard side of the ship—our side. Wonderful view as we looked out—and a small bird, warbler or something but not a seabird, flew, terrified, into our cabin and we had to carefully shoo him out without harming or scaring him any more than we had to!

Loved the cruise, loved the company, and hope to do another Disney cruise sometime again with family.

Downside? I got no writing in and very little editing. Oh, well. I’ll just have to work harder—as long as I can pay more attention to the pups. They were well taken care of in our absence, but they’re full of snuggles and mischief now.

The cruise sounds wonderful. It must have been fun having your grand kids with. You work hard all the time, so it was probably good to take a little time off to air out your mind.

The cruise definitely was fun, Betty, and I loved being with our grandsons. And yes, maybe it was a good thing to take a little time off, though what I didn't accomplish then still remains to be done!
