Holiday Season Continues

Not in Vegas this week, but I’ve still been busy.

First, I did have the book signing I mentioned at the Mystery Ink event in Huntington Beach. Thanks to the holidays and the illnesses going on around now, there weren’t many people there but it was still fun.

We have some family in town who only come about once or twice a year, and that’s keeping us a bit busy too. This week we went to the Enchanted Forest of Light at Descanso Gardens, a botanical garden that this time of year is lit up at night with amazing decorative lights that change configurations and colors in different parts of the large garden, up in the trees and on the ground and in between. A delightful vista.

Plus, we get together for meals and meetings with friends and family. And meanwhile, my dogs, especially Roxie, still want all the attention possible. She just stopped bringing me a toy to throw for fetch, but she’ll be back.

And oh yeah, writing. I’m still promoting the books that came out last month, mostly with online events and interviews and more. And I’m working away on the manuscript I’m under deadline for—fortunately not for another few months, though, since I’m writing slower than usual, partly due to all the other stuff going on.

Oops. A toy was just dropped at my feet again and I’m being stared at as I write this. Nothing unusual about that. But I guess I’d better stop writing and start throwing again. And again.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Good morning -- Happy Holidays to you!! The big day will soon be here and then the end of another year -- how time flies!!

We went to Descanso Gardens several times -- absolutely gorgeous. When the kids were little and we lived in Sacramento, we always went to the Cadillac showroom -- they did a huge display with all sorts of moving figures -- so much fun to see.

My son and grandson had a great time last Sunday at a Phoenix Suns basketball game. My son is an artist and the Suns organization had bought one of his paintings -- they invited him to come see where it was hanging. He and his son were seated in the owner's suite -- pretty plush -- and given the royal treatment. My grandson enjoyed the game but he especially enjoyed the food -- he said there were "walls of food." He was especially impressed with the lobster mac and cheese!!

The family is coming here for brunch Christmas morning -- I'm fixing a couple breakfast casseroles that are family favorites, plus muffins, coffee cake and fresh fruit.

Enjoy the rest of your week, your company, your writing and throwing toys for Roxie!!

Good morning, Patty.

How fun that the Suns organization bought one of your son's paintings! And that he was invited to go see it.

Hope your Christmas brunch goes great and that you have a wonderful time on the holiday and New Year's!

It sounds like you have a lot going on. Always nice to have family around. I've gone to the Enchanted Forest a number of times. It's always mysterious and special. I'm always surprised to see how the various spots look during the day.
