What I'm Up To Now

Welcome to my last post of May!

I’ve been working on an idea for a new series for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. My editor rightly pointed out that the shelter of secrets in my ongoing Shelter of Secrets series might not be so secret any longer thanks to the five stories about it—the fourth one, CANINE PROTECTION, coming out soon and the last one, CANINE REFUGE, coming out next year. As a result, that shelter, where rescue animals are saved—and so are people in trouble—might not be featured beyond the current last book. I am therefore working on a new HRS idea that will of course involve romantic suspense—and dogs! Hopefully it’ll work out. More to come about it, if so.

I’m also excited that I’m being virtually interviewed for a story in the Reader’s House Magazine, a London-based literary magazine. I understand the article will appear in the June issue, and I’m delighted about it!

Just got our younger pup Roxie groomed. We take care of grooming our older pup Cari, but Roxie’s toenails are dark and I can’t see the quick in them, so I don’t feel comfortable using the usual trimmers since I’m afraid I’ll hurt her. She looked adorable before and she looks adorable now, with slightly shorter toenails! Oh, and also well-brushed and trimmed fur.

             Okay, back to plotting!

Hasn't this month flown by!! My grandson is out of school and busy with summer activities, which, for a 14-year-old boy, involves sleeping at late as possible every morning!! He has basketball camp all during June plus he's going out for football so those workouts have started.

Your new books and plots sound very interesting. Is it difficult keeping the characters from the various series in their proper place?

I see the cutest little Havanese being walked by my condo regularly -- black and white. She had long hair and was recently trimmed -- makes a big difference. Many years ago, I babysat for people who had a Boston terrier -- I don't think they ever trimmed its nails and when it was ready to nap, it would walk round and round in a tight circle, nails clicking on the hardwood floor. I'm not sure anybody trimmed their dogs nails way back then!!

Summer is definitely here -- it was 105 yesterday. Thanks goodness the a/c is working well.

Enjoy your day, your books and your dogs.

How fun that your grandson can participate in those summer activities after a good night's sleep, Patty!

I do make notes about each of my characters as they come and go so I can usually keep track of them just fine.

Havanese are definitely cute! And I grew up with a Boston terrier. I don't remember what we did about her nails, though.

And enjoy the heat--hah! It still hasn't gotten too warm in L.A. but I know summer will arrive soon. Enjoy all you choose to do today too!

Sorry about the series ending, but great that you are thinking of something new. Nice that you have an interview coming out.
