Going over the first past pages of MURDER BY THE HOOK is done. Now I just have to get the corrections together to give to my editor.
I had enough distance from the manuscript that it was like I was reading something that someone else wrote. I hope readers agree, but I really liked it. This is my last touch with the manuscript. I always feel a little bittersweet when I send it off, knowing it's going out into the world. All I hope for is that it is a fun read.
I have been writing down notes for the next Yarn Retreat book. But I will take a little while off before I really begin on the manuscript.
In the meantime, I will work on the pattern for that book. I have an idea for a little doll, but I need to play around to see how to make it.
I must have really been preoccupied during the fires in January. I started making a granny square afghan as a way to sooth my nerves. I though I had two skeins of the yarn I was using and when I went looking for the second one, discovered that I had already used it making another granny square afghan. I didn't have enough yarn to finish either one and was glad to find a skein of it online.
It's lucky I put off working on crocheting the little kitten or who knows how that would have turned out, three legs? Or maybe two heads?

Good morning -- I'm eagerly awaiting the new Molly book -- I have no doubt it will be a fun read. I love reading cookbooks and have discovered Joanne Fluke books -- a novel and a cookbook together. The stories take place in Minnesota -- gorgeous place but oh, so cold in the winter.
I finished a granny square blanket last night -- used Red Heart Speckle yarn in a color called Bubblegum and a solid Baby Pink -- it is really pretty. Years ago, I ordered a kit for an afghan -- the directions that came with it with horrid -- I must have received a dozen corrections from the company!! But I loved the color progression they used and still use it on most every granny blanket I make, square or rectangle. I like using two colors and it's a simple pattern of 4 rounds of color A, 2 color B, 3 A, 2 B, 3 A, 2 B, 4 A, 2 B, 1 A, 2 B, 6 A and an edging, if desired. Multiple colors can be used, of course -- many possibilities!!
My son got new fish for his pond -- he has a cover to put on at night -- hopefully, raccoons will be deterred. There haven't been any of the little critters around recently so maybe they've moved on.
The lawn guys just started with their blowers and mowers -- such a racket!! The weather here has been gorgeous -- high 70s most days. We went to the Home Depot garden center a few days ago -- so many beautiful plants.
Enjoy your day, your crocheting and your plotting for the next book.
Patty, Joanne Fluke's books have lots of recipes. She belongs to the same chapter of Sisters in Crime that I do. She is a really nice, generous person.
Too bad about the bad instructions. The color progression sounds interesting.
I know someone who has a koi pond and they had to put netting over it. raccoons are so cute, but so naughty.
I know what you mean about gardeners making noise. I wonder how they stand it. It's warm here and the daffodils are blooming in my yard.
I hope you enjoy your day.
I started another granny blanket and just remembered I have a recipe for a Granny Cake and a pattern for a cat-shaped pillow that starts with a granny square. I may have a granny marathon!!
