When I was a practicing lawyer, I worked in downtown L.A. I also wrote then, and that included contracts as well as novels. I sometimes miss what I used to do. My job in downtown wasn’t exactly where the riots have been going on, but too close, so I’m sure I wouldn’t have been in my office recently if I still was working down there.
It all would be an interesting
background for a new story, but I think I’ll pass on that.
And one of the many good things
about living in L.A. is being near the Hollywood Bowl. I attended its opening
night for this summer last weekend, and got to see Hugh Jackman’s incredible
performance! I’d seen him live before a couple of times and knew what a good
entertainer he is, and this show was particularly enjoyable.
Meanwhile, I’m still working on the
second story in my new, upcoming Harlequin Romantic Suspense miniseries about
K-9s and PIs. And yes, where it works out, I’m continuing to let the world know
about my prior series, the Shelter of Secrets, whose last story, CANINE REFUGE,
was published in April.
Some health issues returned with my
older pup Cari, but we’re taking good care of her. So is Roxie, although the
pup’s energetic determination to play isn’t exactly the best thing to keep Cari
quiet to heal. But fortunately her issues come and go—and they aren’t around
today!

I haven't spent much time in California but when I have visited, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter lived in San Diego for a year. What a beautiful, albeit expensive place. Since the state is so big it is interesting to compare the different areas.
I thoroughly enjoyed LA as well. I'm a city person and I guess the traffic didn't phase me much. So many interesting people. I remember driving down Rodeo Drive and looking at all the shoppers. Really saw some interesting faces and this was probably in the 90's.
I would imagine you could write many interesting stories from your time there.
Good morning -- It's hard to believe what's going on in our wonderful country at the moment -- makes me feel sick. Los Angeles must be in a state of shock.
Life goes on as usual for me -- doing what needs doing in my little condo, tending the plants on my patio, and lots of crocheting. Summer heat has arrived -- 107 yesterday. This building is concrete block construction which is amazing insulation -- I had a fan going but didn't need the a/c. A big tree also provides a lot of shade, which helps a lot.
My daughter sent me pictures of her dogs in their car seat -- lets them sit up high so they can see out of the windows -- they love it. She took them for a nail trim -- they were good boys. Her previous dog hated the procedure and was a naughty boy -- snarling and trying to nip! Hope your pups continue to good health.
Have a good day with your writing and whatever else you do.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Sally, but have been in L.A. for quite a few years. It has its good points and its not-so-good points, but on the whole I've really enjoyed it here. And yes, I have written stories set here, including my Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter Mysteries.
It's definitely difficult to hear about what's going on here, Patty. It makes no sense to me. I can only hope it winds down soon.
Your daughter's dogs sound so adorable! And yes, my pups are doing better now.
You have a good day as well.
