Looming Danger

We had a reminder that it is winter earlier in the week when we got rain and the temperature dropped.  It was short lived and now the sun is back.  Though three storms are predicted to pass through next week.  I'm going to soak up the sun in the meantime.

The rewrite of what I'm at least for now called LOOMING DANGER is going along slowly. Poor Casey has so many problems in this retreat.  There's a princess on the run, a woman who claims she's come to get over a breakup, but she seems confused about her ex's name, some old friends  who have become estranged and only one of them seems to want them to makeup, a woman who has brought her unhappy niece to give her a special weekend, and then there's Doris who is outspoken and very unhappy about how she was treated by the leader of the travel writers seminar which is also going on at Vista Del Mar,  To make it even tougher almost all of them are novices when it comes to yarn.  Casey wants them to have a finished project, and have their problems  worked out by the end of the weekend.  And that doesn't even count the murder she has to solve or her own issues.

There are a lot of characters and I think I'm going to take a readers advice and put a list of them at the beginning.

And now to grab a little sun while its still here.

Wow, there is a lot going on in your new book -- sounds intriguing!

The weather here has been beautiful -- trees are leafing out, flowers are blooming. The winter was very mild -- didn't have temps below high 30s.

I've been doing my usual crocheting -- hoping to have half a dozen blankets ready to go to the oncology center by the end of the month. I'm working on a cross stitch pattern now -- one of my favorites. A granny rectangle is next -- it works up quickly.

We're having a family lunch here tomorrow -- it's rare when everyone is available to get together -- work schedules, sporting events -- always something going on.

I hear the sound of distant leaf blowers -- the lawn guys are starting their racket. They are supposed to do a bit of tree pruning, too. The big tree in my yard has some branches growing every which way -- previous pruning made a mess. My master gardening training makes me itch to get out there and do it myself but that's an HOA no-no!!

Have a good day -- keep all those characters straight!!

A list and some ID of the characters sounds good on this one ! On a couple of rare occasions I have caught you mixing up Mason's family a bit--he has lost a daughter and grandson for sure. The problem may get worse since you have several series going at once. We all just wait patiently for you to get back to our favorites again.

Patty, It's been a mild winter here as well. I'm glad you found a new place for your afghans. It's nice that you are getting together with everyone for lunch.

I have to trim an overgrown azalea bush and cut the weeds growing around it. It's in a area that the gardeners can't get to, so I got a weed wacker and hope I can get the weeds be a short green patch. My big excitement was getting an azalea plant in the kitchen to bloom again.

Linda Osborn, Yes, Mason's family did get mixed up. But now he just has two daughters and an ex wife. I am looking forward to writing the next Molly book.

How fun that your characters are so plentiful and helpful, Betty.

Azaleas are so beautiful -- hope yours do well. I had lots of them in Sacramento and a few in Texas. The town of Tyler, TX has an Azalea Trail and Dogwood Festival each year -- there are lots of old historic homes there and several of their gardens are open to the public during the festival. I tried one in a pot here but even in the shade, the brutal summer heat was too much for it. Sacramento also has camellias -- gorgeous.

Linda Johnston, They are an interesting bunch this time.

Patty, The Azalea I got to bloom again is in a pot. I bought it last year at Trader Joe's. I have a mini rose bush in a pot that's blooming too.

Your new book sounds wonderful. I remember when I read the first Molly book I couldn't get all the characters straight in my head so I made my own character list. That helped. Now all those characters are very familiar to me.

Miriam, I think it's a good idea to have character lists at the beginning, particularly for the Yarn Retreat books. I didn't realize it until it was too late to change it, but there are a lot of characters whose name start with C- Casey, Crystal, Cory, Cora and Cloris.
