I sent off the edited version of Danger Looms a few days ago and now I'm just waiting for my editor to look it over and then move it along to the next step. I was a little all in after sending it in and have taken a few days off from working on the next Molly Pink book.
I had really hoped to go to Chicago this week, but family issues and the ridiculous air fare kept me from going. I get my Chicago neighborhood newspaper and so have been hearing all the inside story about the Obama Library opening. It is a short walk to it from my place. I walked past the location on my way to high school, though in those days it was all a garden and park area. It's across the street from where we went sledding when I was a kid. It all feels very personal and exciting.
Now I'm hoping to get there later in the summer or early fall.
It's been all sunny and summery lately, but today is cool and gray. It feels like a day for an extra cup of coffee and time crocheting or reading.

Good morning -- I'm glad to hear the next book is moving through the process -- there are lots of steps. You'd mentioned that the next Molly book has a woman who was in dire financial straits because her senior living complex was having problems. Something like that actually happened here -- the board of directors were collecting a huge amount of money each month from the residents but not making the mortgage payments. The lender foreclosed, many residents lost everything. Many lawsuits were filed -- it was a mess for years.
I watched the opening ceremonies for the Obama Center --- oh, to have a person like him for president again. I was thinking -- a Pope and a President from Chicago -- very impressive.
I've been doing my usual crocheting -- have about four rows plus edging to finish a cross stitch blanket.
The weather here has been hot, hot, hot -- but that's typical for Phoenix. I do any outside things early in the day, then stay in with the a/c on. Yesterday there was a dust storm advisory for the area but thank goodness, no dust blowing here. There's been one haboob since I've lived here -- makes such a mess.

The Pope also has connections to my Chicago neighborhood. He went to Seminary school there and has other ties there.
Great news about sending along the current draft, Betty. And how fun that you can picture where the Obama Center is without going there...yet. Hopefully you will get to see it soon.
Linda, It got even better. A friend I have known since elementary school was in Chicago and gave me a play by play of what was going on in the neighborhood and then sent photos.
I've been missing Chicago this week as I've observed the Obama library excitement. I worked in Hyde Park for many years in the mid 90's when I could have passed Barack Obama on the street and just thought he was a pleasant man. Wow, times have changed. I'm hoping we make a trip back to Chicago in the Fall or Spring.
Meanwhile, I just finished re-reading the Veronica Blackstone books. What a delight. Will there be any in the future? I know you have a lot on your plate right now.
I just finished crocheting a black, sparkly shawl that I hope will be a big help as I sit in ice cold places this summer. Shawls are perfect for a Florida summer because everything is super- air conditioned. Better than sweating. Have a great week!
I discovered that I love going through presidential libraries. I visited the Johnson Library in Texas and the Clinton library in Arkansas. I am looking forward to visiting the Obama Library.
Sally, So your worked in Hyde Park. You could have passed Obama on the street. A neighbor of mine had an old phone book that listed his phone and address. I am hoping to get there later this summer r early fall. I am so glad you enjoyed the Veronica Blackstone books. As of now, I don't think there will be anymore. I totally understand needing a shawl. I always carry something in the summer because of the air conditioning. I hope you have a great week!

I've been to the George H.W. Bush library in College Station, TX, the Lyndon Johnson in Austin, the Bill Clinton in Little Rock and the Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, IL. The Lincoln is my favorite -- it has amazing exhibits. My husband and I were in Americas, GA and the waitress at the cafe where we had lunch said we were sitting at the same table Jimmy and Rosalyn had been at the day before. That was fun.
