A Change of Scenes

I thought I posted this last night, but must have hit the wrong button so here it is a little late.

There was a nice surprise waiting for me when I came back from Florida.  My publisher had sent a box of advance copies of  ON THE HOOK.  The cover looks even better on an actual book and it is always exciting to see a real copy of it  The release date is t May 8 and now I need to start promoting it.

Last week I wrote about my family all having the flu.  Thankfully they are on the mend and I managed not to get sick.  I had a ticket to Chicago for last Saturday, but due to expected bad weather, American Airlines offered me the chance to change my ticket.    I was actually glad to put off the trip for a few more days to make sure everyone was really getting better.  I ended up going this past Wednesday.

I went from enjoying having coffee in my backyard to having to put on a coat to take out the trash.  And as I write this there is a winter storm warning.  It's snowing  now and they are predicting a foot of snow by tomorrow and more over the weekend.  In the old days weather used to happen and then they had to figure out how to deal with it.  Not anymore.  The salt  trucks are spread around the city waiting to start melting the snow.  The schools are all closed and me along with everyone went to the grocery store to stock up.

I was all bundled up with gloves, hat, scarf and boots..  They are not a fashion statement here as much as a way to keep your feet warm.

I don't mind being stuck inside. I brought the crochet project for the next Crochet Mystery and I'd like to take back a finished blanket.  I have a book to read and a manuscript to work on.  I bought food  I like at the store.   Though I'm sure that I will want to go outside and see all the snow.  It would be a lot different if I had to dig out a car.

It is always like a retreat for me when I come here.  The snow only adds to it.

Congrats on receiving your copies of ON THE HOOK. They do look good! And good luck with the weather. Just talked to family members in the Chicago area and heard about the snow blower they just bought.

I bought my kids who moved to Idaho a snowblower, and they haven't had enough snow to use it so far. Last winter before they got there it was awful! Are you getting into another Yarn Retreat book yet? That new cover looks great--hope May hurries !

Linda O. Johnston, a snow blower sounds like a worthy purchase. I was watching people shoveling from my window and I was thinking that if I had to deal with clearing snow I would definitely get a snow blower.

Linda Osborn, I'm sure they'll be happy to have that snow blower when they get some snow. Yes, I had started writing the next Yarn Retreat book in the fall, but had to put it on the back burner because of the deadline for the next Crochet Mystery. Actually, I am working on it while I'm snowed in.
