I apologize
in advance to any of you reading this who experience real winters, with all of
the cold and snow and more. I grew up in
Pittsburgh and
know what it means, but here I am, discussing and griping somewhat about my
local weather.
Now, I live
in LA, and we're still in the middle of a drought. Tomorrow, March begins, and we've hardly had
any rain this year. Last year we had a
genuine winter season for here, with lots of rain. Earlier this week we had some rain, and more
is anticipated today or tomorrow.
Our cold
days are seldom below freezing, although our nearby mountains can freeze, and
it was fun earlier this week to see some mountains capped with snow in the
distance from our house.
But spring
is approaching, so warmer and even dryer weather will settle around us. My dogs seem to enjoy whichever season it
is. This time of year, they tend to lie
on top of the floor grates when the furnace is on to warm up, despite how thick
their coats are. In the summer, they
often lie on top of the same grates as the air conditioning blows through.
My hands
are chilly now as I sit typing at the computer, but they still work fine. I'm enjoying what there is of an LA winter
right now. It won't be around much longer.
Meanwhile,
I'm waiting for March 6. It's when my
new K-9 Ranch Rescue story for Harlequin Romantic Suspense, Second Chance Soldier, will finally
become available!

The things about winter in L.A. is that it is colder inside than it is back east. We don't have the insulation to keep the heat in. I notice when I'm in Chicago, the colder it is outside, the warmer it is in my place because the heat runs more and builds up.
Congrats on your new release!
Thanks, Betty! I do notice the chilliness inside during the winter unless I put the furnace on, even as it warms up outside. But generally, I'm okay with the LA chill.
