I got a surprise in the mail yesterday. My copies of MURDER INK had arrived. The release got delayed because of the covid and all the lock downs. It won't be released in the U.S. until February.
It's the first book in the Writer for Hire series and features Veronica Blackstone. She writes love letters, wedding vows, funeral celebrations of life and just about anything else as long as it's legal. When someone who she wrote wedding vows for turns up dead, Veronica takes it upon herself to find out what how her seemingly perfect life could end up so badly.
Veronica runs a writing group with some quirky characters. She has an aversion to cliches, but finds them popping into her thoughts all the time.
The book takes place in Chicago and I write a lot about the location. I am not a fan of books that throw in a couple of street names to set a backdrop.
Thanks to the pandemic I haven't been in Chicago since March. I have repairs that need taking care of, but every time I thought about going either Chicago or L.A. had quarantine rules. I missed seeing the city in October which is my favorite month there. What a year. I have supplies of masks everywhere. Just when all the stores seemed to have paper products, the newest lock down has sent people back into freak out mode, though it seems to be mostly about toilet paper.
My house is still in chaos because of the construction, but the end is in sight. It's late now and my mind has turned to mush. All I can think about is a hot bath and climbing into bed, so I can get up in a hurry when the construction crew shows up in the morning.
So it's good night for now

Congratulations on your new book--and new series--Betty! Sounds good. I'll have to look for it in February. But sorry you can't easily get to Chicago these days. And hope your construction ends soon.
Linda, thank you. I had a look in the former garage last night and even though it isn't finished, it looks amazing. I'm sure when it's finished, it will be worth the hassle.
