Out and About

I spent the last two weeks getting everything together for our corporate taxes.  It’s gotten better since I’m more familiar with Quick Books, but I’m not a fan.  Anyway, it is behind me now and before I dive back into writing BUT KNOT FOR ME, I took a day off and we went to the L.A. Zoo and the Huntington Gardens. We’re member so it’s easy to drop in for a short time.

It was the first time I’ve been back to the Zoo since it reopened.  We went a lot before it closed down along with everything else at the beginning of December. It seemed when we went there before we mostly had the place to ourselves.  Not today.  It seemed quite crowded with lots of kids.  I enjoyed watching them.  They seemed completely comfortable wearing masks and imagine in the future that masks will be worn a lot even after the pandemic finally ends.

Huntington Gardens was much more serene.  It was much less crowded and fewer kids.  It was nice to be out and surrounded by so many beautiful flowers.

We finished the day off by going to a café in Pasadena.  They have given over part of the street to tables for local restaurants since only out door dining is allowed for now. It was very festive and good to see so many people out and about.  When you’re home it’s easy to forget that the world is still turning out there.

But now I’m ready to go back to work. Casey is waiting to pick up where we left off on her new adventure particularly since the killer thinks they’ve come up with an undetectable murder. Ha!  Casey will figure it out.

I'm afraid my day out left me too tired to write anything more.  Now I just want a cup of tea followed by a good nights sleep.

I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourself.

Chkntza, It makes such a difference to get out in the world. The people I know who have been staying home all the time are cranky and depressed.

I need to get to the zoo one of these days, too, Betty. I'm a member but haven't been for a while, even when it's open. And I hope you're recuperated enough from your visits to get back to writing!

Linda, the zoo is a good place to go when you need a change. My favorite spot is by the elephants. There is a shaded spot with a beautiful view of the mountains. It feels far away from the freeway and the commotion of the city. Also love the area around the small lake at Descano Gardens for a similar feeling. Also love going to Venture Harbor beach. On a clear day you can look up the coast all the way to Santa Barbara and when you look out at the water see Santa Cruz, Santa Rose and Anacapa Islands.
