Just Writing Along

Things are fairly calm right now but busy. I’ve been working on the second book in my Alaska Untamed Mysteries for Crooked Lane. Or, rather, Lark O. Jensen is, since she’s the designated author.

It still seems strange to have a pseudonym. But it seems to work okay, especially since it’s no secret that she’s me.

My writing time is slightly limited, though, since our puppy Roxie takes a lot of attention. She loves to play, which is no surprise. But the really good thing is that our older dog Cari, who’d become fairly quiet, now also runs around chasing toys—and Roxie—and finally getting some exercise. So naturally, I encourage that. And work on Roxie’s training. She still has a long way to go with obeying commands, though her housebreaking isn’t too bad.

And when I’m actually sitting at the computer writing, I keep Roxie in a closed crate right behind me to keep her from running around the office or elsewhere and chewing everything in sight. And even out of sight! But needing to get her out and exercised does limit my writing time somewhat.

So… Busy in a good way. And back to it now.

I know what's its like writing with animals around. When we had a bunch of dogs and cats, they used to all come in the tiny room I write in. Now it's just one of the cats. Good idea about the crate to keep the puppy out of mischief.

Yes, though it's difficult when she wakes up and cries that she wants out of the crate. Play-time!
