It's pretty much nose to the grindstone for me. My deadline is bearing down and there is no wiggle room on this one. I suppose it's nice to work on a book when you have time at your disposal. But I find a looming deadline works as inspiration. It also helps that I did a synopsis even though there are constant surprises when characters tap me on the shoulder and have their say.
There are certainly no siren's calls luring me to Disneyland or Universal Studios. The heat has ratcheted up and even Disneyland that is usually more reasonable than the San Fernando Valley has temperatures is the upper 90s. Universal seemed to cool off at night but when it's over 100 to start with even a drop of twenty degrees is still sultry.
The humidity was low today-- around 15 percent which made the 108 tolerable, but I saw clouds drifting in from the direction the monsoon moisture comes from which is not good since the temperature is supposed to be about the same tomorrow. If there's humidity, it will be worse.
I remember when people used to laugh at anyone talking about the weather as if it was a boring topic, but not this summer. I'm hoping this heat wave is the last hurrah.
The days have become noticeable shorter. Target was pulling out the back to school stuff and replacing it with with Halloween stuff.
By the time I look up from this manuscript and send KNOT A GAME in, Fall will be full upon is and the Christmas stuff will be on full display.
Now it's back to writing.
