Social Media and Writing

I decided to write about social media a bit this week because I don’t know what to say! I’ve always said how untechie I am, although I do okay using computers to write with, and watching and communicating with the world over texts and emails and elsewhere on the internet.

But social media? Well, I am active on Facebook and am happy that I’ve been able to post pictures of myself and my dogs on my home page and also occasionally other times. I also add posts about things I like or that are important to me, such as what a particular day is known for—like, National Authors’ Day and National Chocolate Day and even National Love Your Red Hair Day.

I once was slightly active on Twitter, when it was still Twitter, and received emails for a while containing posts by some of my contacts, although that’s stopped. But those are pretty much the extent of my social media stuff. I know it would be better to put some of my books out there more on other sites, such as Instagram. Maybe someday. If I can figure out how to get more techie, post more pictures and videos and such.

Meanwhile, I’ll just keep on writing, and taking advantage of some of my other online means, such as being active on Writerspace.

Good morning -- I do email -- that's the extent of my communicating on the internet. I've checked out Instagram but it's full of stuff I have no interest in, and Facebook, or whatever it is called now, is usually just a lot of nonsense. Both my kids do all sorts of stuff but I truly have no interest in that sort of thing. I do read a few blogs but other than that I stick with my crocheting!!

And that's what I'll be doing today -- almost done with a Christmas gift, then I'll get back to making blankets to donate.

Enjoy your day, your dogs and whatever writing you're doing.

I don't do much social media either. Although, I do have an Instagram account and a Facebook account. I mostly lurk, reading other people's posts. Besides, I've heard that Facebook is mostly for "old" people anymore. LOL. Which is fine with me. And with the way Facebook's algorithm works I think I mostly see posts from the groups I am in. Most of groups revolve around crochet in one way or another. Which makes me happy. :)
