I am actually finishing up MURDER BY THE HOOK. This is the last go through. I know what happens and am making sure all the pieces fit. I have been working my favorite way. I've gone to my computer in the morning dressed in my favorite old ratty sweater and lost track of time and pretty much everything outside of what I'm working on. It's just me and the characters now.
It's so confusing. The book takes place right around the summer solstice and in my mind I'm thinking of endless daylight and coming weather of hot temperatures. But when I come out of my room and try to reconnect with the present, the daylight is dimming and it's cold.
We're supposed to get rain this weekend. I saw a photo on Facebook of my Chicago neighborhood and there were big fat snowflakes falling.
It's funny about the ratty sweater. It is quite unattractive and is the color of a rainy day. I only bought it because it is full length. It hung in my closet unworn for a long time and I was going to give it away. Then I was cold while sitting at my computer and put on the gloomy gray sweater. It's a number of years later and looks pretty warn from the numerous washings but it's my mainstay in the house. Somehow it adds just the right warmth. Often when I put it on, I think about how glad I am that I didn't give it away. It just reminds me that you just never know.
I don't watch a lot of TV, but last night when I needed to decompress I watched Thelma. It was very enjoyable and I strongly recommend.

Good morning -- Glad to hear the book is about finished -- I am eagerly awaiting it!!
It is cold here this morning -- 45 degrees. My daughter was watching football from Cleveland last night -- snowing, and there were guys in the stadium wearing nothing but underwear and beanies!! That's crazy. My husband was a big fan of high school football and I went to a few games when it was miserably cold -- I had on warm clothes plus sat with a sleeping bag zipped around me. I usually stayed until the halftime ceremonies were over, then went home -- there was always someone to bring him home.
I've finished a blanket requested by a friend of my son's -- she asked for a big granny square so it worked up quickly. My next project is a basketweave using an ombre yarn in soft greens.
i had a bathroom faucet replaced a week ago -- reminded me that you've not mentioned your water problems recently. Have the repairs been done?
Keep snuggly warm in your worn sweater -- next time you post, Thanksgiving will be over!! I'm going to my son's -- all I have to make is the dump cake my grandson always requests.
Patty, what a great idea to have a sleeping bag at a football game. You are a crocheting machine.
We are still dealing with the insurance company. Once it's settled, we won't do anything for a while since there will be a lot of upheaval. For now, we just step carefully.
Nice that you are going to your son's for Thanksgiving. Our plans are still fluid. We're supposed to go to a friends, but not sure.
It's cold here, too. 41 this morning. Now it's back to writing.
Ah sounds like your sweater is you security blanket...I have a couple of those too. Somehow even bad days feel better when i put one on.
Insurance companies are a pain. My son had broken water pipes under several rooms of the house. The insurance wouldn't do anything. They tore up the floors themselves, plumber did the work, and then my son had to put new floos down He did all the wood floors, tile kitchen and laundry room. Of coure they had remodeled this old house about 15 years ago, so they couldn't match any of it and had to do completely new floors in all those rooms. Fun
Linda Osborn, I am not looking forward to the repairs. Anything done on floors means everything has to be moved. I washed the sweater yesterday and since I air dry my clothes, didn't have it to wear. Nothing could quite take it's place.
It's always interesting to me too, Betty, to move from my computer screen and whatever weather or anything else is going on there to reality. But it always seems to work out! Have fun finishing your manuscript.
Linda Johnston, I have been so immersed in the manuscript that mentions the summer solstice, that I have to make a point to take some time to connect to the real time of year.
When I started working at home a number of years ago, I had my favorite sweatpants and sweater. It was my go-to outfit unless I had to interview someone online. Then I dressed up from the waist up and still wore sweatpants. It was awesome. Now that I'm retired, I frequently have day pajamas and night pajamas. I do wear regular clothes when I go out. It's a good life.
I love that you have a favorite sweater.
