A Day Off

Spring has felt like it belonged to another city like Seattle or Portland.  Gray days with a chill in the air.  Finally today a bright sunny morning with temperatures that don't require layers.

I hope it has a positive effect on what I'm working on as I have hit kind of a wall in the next Crochet and Crumpets book.  I know it will work out, so instead of sitting at my computer looking at the screen trying to will the words to come, I am taking a day off.

A day to just be-- like drinking coffee and looking out the window.  I have already read some magazine articles and done a crossword puzzle.  The sink was piled with dishes as they all have a million excuses why they can't put the dishes in the dishwasher.  I took care of that, grateful to have a dishwasher to put all the dirty stuff in.

I will enjoy my errands, glad to be out in the world.  And then some time crocheting.  Some days you just have to let go and give your mind a rest.

Good morning -- Sounds like a good day for you -- just do what pleases you.

What crochet project are you working on? I finished the granny rectangle and have started a cross stitch blanket in a lovely soft turquoise color called Aruba Sea. I'm making a good dent in my stash -- the basket that was stacked full is down to half a dozen skeins and a bin is about half full. There are still four full bins and several shelves full so I won't be running out anytime soon.

It's breezy and cool this morning but the predicted temperature is 98 -- all the succulents on my patio are doing very well. I looked out yesterday and there was a big black cat curled up against a planter -- when I opened the sliding door, it ran off.

Enjoy your day, having that extra cup of coffee and just staring into space!!

Patty, I still haven't finished the granny square rectangle or white kitten. Working on the kitten requires concentration and counting of tiny stitches. It doesn't work well when there are interruptions. My husband had serious health issues and Jakey has been here a lot, making it hard to do much.

I love the name of the name Aruba Sea for the yarn. I picture of blue-green. Our temperature is predicted to be close to yours today. It's weird after wearing layers just a couple of days ago.

Coffee and the view of my yard give a good start to my day. I hope you enjoy your day.

I'm so sorry to hear your husband has had health issues -- I wish him well. Both of my husbands had prostate cancer -- that wasn't the cause of their deaths but it was miserable for them to go through.

The Aruba Sea yarn I'm using is Red Heart -- it is very soft, works up beautifully and the color is gorgeous.

Sounds like a fun day, Betty, but I bet your writing is creeping around the back of your mind!

Linda O. Johnston. you are right. As soon I went back to working on the crochet kitten, ideas began to pop into my mind.

A little break--a few hours, a day, a couple of months in the hospital--creativity is always restored! I am always very anxious to get back to left over projects.

Happy Mother's Day everyone. I hope you enjoyed your day off Betty and I also hope your husband is feeling better.

Linda Osborn, yes creativity is always restored. Good luck with your left over projects.

Miriam, it turned out there was no day off. Any celebrations for Mother's Day got cancelled. The only bright spot was that I finished the crocheted kitten's head and worked on the next book.
