Almost There

It's amazing what a week can do.  The Mohs surgery on my face is mostly forgotten.  The skin colored tape is off and all that's left is a scar that kind of fits in with my wrinkles.  The hot weather has cooled and we've had some cool gray mornings.  I love the cheerfulness of the sun, but the more moody skies have been a welcome change.  Yesterday, I didn't have to turn on the AC.  Yay!

I have been plowing ahead with the last go over of my manuscript. There have been a few uh oh moments when I came to plot errors, but so far I have been able to fix them.  That's always the big fear when I go over a manuscript--that there will be a huge hole in the plot.

I have only a few more days to finish up working on it, so I am letting mostly everything else go.  That means a lot of cleaning will be waiting for me.  For now, it's keep the sink clear of dirty dishes and water my plants--and take out the garbage and be sure to feed the cat.  As if she would let me forget.

I like having something to focus on so intently, but I'm always glad when it's done.  For a few days at least.  Then I will pick up working on the next Yarn Retreat book.  But only until I get the edits on SCONED TO DEATH and have to go back to it.

It's funny how i long for leisure and then feel kind of empty when I have it.

Good morning -- Great to hear that all is going well. It's been cooling here, too -- one day with no a/c, others not having to turn it on until late in the day.

I finished the ripple afghan -- it worked up amazingly fast. I've been seeing patterns using a cluster stitch but I don't care for the way the edges look so am trying my own method -- so far, so good. The patterns have anywhere from two to six stitches in a cluster -- three is my preference -- anything over that is, at least for me, difficult to work without one or more loops slipping off the hook. I like to get a good rhythm going -- three for me!!

There was a potluck dinner with several neighbors yesterday -- I made the veggie/pasta salad and olive cheese bread -- got several requests for the recipes. My grandson's 16th birthday is the 25th of this month -- he said to me "You are planning on making the cherry/pineapple dump cake, aren't you?" He doesn't like frosted cakes.

Looking forward to "Sconed to Death" -- I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in that series. Have you thought about Molly and the Hookers next adventure?

Enjoy your day.

Patty, your potluck dishes sound yummy. The dump cake also sounds great. Your grandson is lucky to have such a close relationship with you.

You must get a feeling of satisfaction when you look at how much you have crocheted in a day. It's interesting that you mention getting a rhythm going. I imagine that it's like typing. Your fingers just know the pattern and make the three stitches in the cluster automatically.

I think I made some notes for the next Molly book. In kind of an inside joke, I mention Mason in SCONED TO DEATH.

Enjoy your cooler weather!

Can't wait to read it and to see how Mason fits in there! You could write a book featuring all 3 of your main characters! Perhaps they all decided on a vacation to get away for a bit and then end up at the same resort. Of course a murder happens and they all have to put their heads together to solve it. Just an idea!

Anonymous, Mason isn't in the book. I just mention his name. It's kind of mind boggling for me to think of the three characters meeting up. It's kind of like they escaped the books and took off on their own. I'll have to think about it.

Its amazing how the Mohs surgery just blends in with your face. It will be a forgotten memory soon. Hope you get a little downtime this weekend.

I'm sure your cat won't let you forget food, Betty, any more than my dogs would, Betty. But it's good to be busy at something as fun and necessary as finishing a manuscript!

Linda O. Johnston, I just wrote The End and will send it off later. It always makes me a little sad to let it go. And without that anchor on my time, I suddenly at loose ends with no more excuses why I can't run the vacuum.

Sally, it is already on the way to being forgotten. I have given up on downtime. I was going to finish crocheting the red hen last night. It's pretty close to done. I managed to get the safety eyes in and just have to close it up and add the comb, but after a very late brunch with Jakey and a long trip to a very crowded Costco, all I could do when I got home was make sure my husband had food and watch the last episode of Leanne

Now remember, in earlier books Molly sometimes had both guys around. Mason always said she was {their girl}.They had dinner, fought over giving her rides, etc. I was thinking too--we never met Barry's mother or daughter, and Mason"s girls have disappeared. I like the idea of everyone going off on a vacation and winding up at the same dead body.Jamie could get back in the story, she always adds some color. I remember a long time ago I reminded you that Mason had a grandson--Molly smuggled him in to see Adelle's clown friend
