I made my delayed deadline and sent in SCONED TO DEATH on Sunday so my editor in the U.K. would have it Monday morning. Now it's in her court. I expect to get an editorial letter in the not too distant future and then will go over the manuscript again with any changes she suggests.
I was going to take time off from writing for the week and take care of things I had let go. But it only took a day before I wanted to look at the notes I had on the next Yarn Retreat book. I discovered that had written the first few pages, but the notes were nowhere to be found. I suspect they are in all the scribbles on legal pads. Luckily, I remember the ideas I had for the book and wrote new notes.
This time the story is going to involve some travel writers who are at Vista Del Mar as Casey is putting on her yarn craft retreat. I took a class in travel writing years ago at the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival. I also bought a book that has best travel writing of 2016. It was one of those online deals and I thought it would be good for research. I started to read it and am finding it fascinating. The travel writing itself is great and it is definitely giving me info the my book.
And then my mind didn't turn off and ideas for the Yarn Retreat book kept coming. Names of characters, situations, how to make everything blend together and what was going on with the regular cast of characters. . So much for the days off.
It is so much nicer to work on something than put away laundry anyway.
