End of October

Just as I was putting all of my summer stuff away, the weather changed and got hot and dry.  It was so weird.  On morning I awoke to fog and condensation on everything, and the next day, everything was bone dry and the air was light as silk with bright sun.  We went from having highs in the low seventies to ninety.   We never got the Santa Ana winds that were supposed to accompany the dry air.  It's a relief to me.  Those winds whip  up the wrong kind of ions that set everyone on edge.  Even more so after the fires they stirred up in January.

I'm really glad the Santa Ana winds aren't blowing on Halloween.  It's too creepy to have all those bad ions blowing around with hoards of trick or treaters.

I am on schedule using the suggestions from my editor to revise SCONED TO DEATH.   I always go through the whole thing rather than just respond to her comments.  Since there has been some time since I worked on it, I have a fresh eye.

I am crocheting another red hen, but in a different softer yarn.  It's going to be bigger than the first one I made, and cuddlier.

I have a little over a week to finish revising.  I'm supposed to hear about a cover next month.  I will be glad to get back to KNOT A DEAD END.  Though it is still on my mind.  I mentioned that it involves another retreat going on at Vista Del Mar for travel writers.  The new Westways magazine arrived and reading it turned out to be research. Though I was not too happy with their crossword at the end. Some of it didn't make sense or play fair.

Now to get ready for the trick or treaters.  We have 750 bags of gummie bears.  When they're gone, it's lights out.

Wow, 750 bags of treats for Halloween -- I haven't given out that many in my lifetime!! I doubt there will be any kids coming here -- I've only seen a couple little girls running around my condo complex. My grandson had several friends at his house last night for a pumpkin-carving party -- my son said what they did was really awful, but they had fun. Ate lots of pizza, too.

The weather is perfect here -- I have the sliding door to the patio open all day -- close it when it cools in the evening.

I've been crocheting a granny rectangle, using a Red Heart color block yarn in a color called Liquid Teal. It is a beautifully soft yarn and the color shadings are lovely -- perfect for relaxing crocheting.

Hope all your edits are going well -- I'm looking forward to the new books.

Enjoy your day -- sneak a couple bags of treats for yourself!!

Living in a 55+ community I really miss the trick or treaters. I did get to see some when I was out and about today.
I'm probably weird but I really love this weekend when we get our extra hour back. I wish we would just stay on Standard time, but that's me. Meanwhile, I'm welcoming Fall and the start of holidays with open arms. Though I don't decorate for Christmas until Thanksgiving weekend.
Happy Halloween to all!

Patty, To be fair, my son and Jakey along with some friends did all the decorating and they hand out the candy. I'm okay not doing it. I did it for years. Now I'm just the support staff, refilling candy and making snacks. Your weather sounds wonderful. I love opening the windows. Liquid teal sounds gorgeous. I can imagine the soft yarn. I'm on schedule with the edits and fixing some errors in the plot. I'm going to the store tomorrow to get my Halloween candy when it's half price.

Sally, It' nice that you got to see some kids in costumes. It's always fun. Going back to standard time always seems easier than changing to daylight savings. I was just telling Jakey how when I was a kid Christmas stuff didn't go up until after Thanksgiving. No way is he going to wait until then. He's already giving his opinion where the tree should go. I bet he'll be pushing to put it up as soon as the Halloween stuff is down. Since our it's not a real tree, putting it up early isn't a problem.
